Onboarding

The onboarding process will be used to assess your ability to access our virtual environment. Included in your program fee, we provide a software application, ATMO Viewer, that will be used to access the virtual environment. As an initial step, you will go to https://atmocenter.org/downloads/ATMOViewer and download the latest version of the application. You will have an opportunity to log into our virtual environment with the username/password that have been provided to you. This username/password is specific to the PACE summer program, not affiliated with Morgan State University and will be deactivated shortly after the PACE program concludes. Do not disclose the username/password to anyone. It is for your use only.

When downloading or executing the application, your anti-virus software may be triggered and attempt to block the download or not allow the application to execute.  This is expected behavior.  It is safe to allow the download and/or the application execution to proceed.

Before logging into the application, we recommend having at least 8GB of memory and a high definition display capable of displaying at least 1024×768 pixels in resolution. Upon successful login, you will materialize as an avatar in a virtual world where you will interact with staff and other PACE scholars. Once you reach this point, you may proceed with the instructions below.

The primary means of interaction in our virtual environment is with an application called BiggerBlueButton (BBB for short).

To access BBB, you will follow these steps;

Step 1. Click on the MEETING button at the top of the ATMO Viewer screen. Wait approximately 30 seconds and a dialog will appear.
Step 2. Click on the JOIN MEETING button inside the dialog.
Step 3. Enter your information – For example; Full Name: Jane Doe  (Note: Leave the email blank)
Step 4. Click on the JOIN button inside the dialog. (Note: If the meeting has not started yet, a red pop-up box with the following message will appear; Meeting has not started yet. Please wait for the host to start the meeting first.)  Wait a minute or two, then try again.
Step 5. Once you have joined the meeting, you should see a dialog requesting to use your microphone. It will have the following message; How would you like to join the audio? Click on the Microphone picture.
Step 6. Finally, to turn on the webcam, click on the Webcam picture next to the Microphone at the bottom of the dialog.

2) Sign PACE Agreement Page (Ensure that you have signed the agreement)
3) Take FSILS assessment (Take this assessment as soon as you can)

The 2025 PACE summer program is an innovative online program that utilizes semi-immersive virtual reality powered by XR technology and AI algorithms to provide a personalized and immersive learning experience. This approach offers real-time student level data to educators, researchers, parents, and professionals, which enables us to gain a better understanding of your specific learning needs and offers targeted support to accelerate your learning progress. Through the use of this platform, we believe we can revolutionize the way education and student training are approached by offering personalized learning experiences that cater to the needs of individual students.

As a PACE scholar, you will spend five days a week taking classes to prepare you to be an extraordinary student when you officially become a freshman in the fall of 2025. You will participate in a rigorous curriculum that includes mathematics, physics, computer science, and chemistry. You will also have an opportunity to participate in our inspiring Speaker Series that aids students in career development. Additionally, you will participate in Morgan State University’s official freshmen orientation activities. More information about these sessions will be given to you throughout the program.

The primary goals of the 2025 PACE Program are two-fold; First, the training and assessments that you complete will allow you to be placed in an advanced math course (Calculus 241) as an incoming freshman. Secondly, you will have the opportunity to participate in a team experience that demonstrates the power of collaborative relationships.

A Final Note …

We are confident that the 2025 PACE program will offer you an exceptional opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills. Through our immersive and personalized approach to learning, we aim to provide you with an extraordinary experience that will broaden your horizons and inspire you to achieve great things. We are thrilled to have you as a part of this program and excited to see the amazing outcomes that you will accomplish.
